Redemption for Burberry!

Yes! It is time for Burberry to once again make its mark in the handbag market! With a few nice but possibly forgettable handbag collections previously, Burberry has two new pieces which have taken the spotlight in my opinion. The runway show was up and streamed live on the burberry.com website earlier this morning, with a selection of intricately beaded trench coats to structured linen parkas featuring a raffia-trimmed hood, as well as exaggerated sleeves on a full skirt trench. However, with all of these that were noted, they were not as mesmerizing as these two. Brace yourself.

Multicolored Alligator Clutch in Tangerine Color
Intricate but also done in a color combination resembling hysteria,
it is a true necessity for true fashionista on an evening out

Alligator Herringbone Rattan Clutch in Beetroot Color
Anyone who has a preference for a bag with structure and linear lines (like me) would
not have to think twice about this one. Again intricate, in an elegant shape, but also a good size.

IMO It's the Perfect Timing for Fashion!

Summer is coming to an end and with this means goodbye to skimpy clothing, and hello to layering. Fall is the perfect time to be fashionable, being especially true for Calgary. Light wool coats, leggings, denim, boots, scarves... And not to mention that with the end of the New York Fashion Week, designers are now hosting runway events for the newly anticipated Ladies Spring/Summer 2012 collections in London!

The two I generally look forward to are Burberry Prorsum and Mulberry! :) Which runway collections excite you?

More Unknowledgable Fashionistas

I can't believe that someone made that mistake... :(

Unknowledgable Fashionista

This was a good laugh for me. Hopefully no one took this particular persons fashion advice.

Goyard!

Goyard is one of those brands that are quite exclusive, with only a handful of stores worldwide. Not exactly a subtle print; however, it is not as "well-known" as the typical designer labels that are heard in every household. This label definitely deserves recognition, especially for the intricacy applied to each item - the print is hand painted!

It gets lighter at the end of the tunnel

Summer is almost over, but I know that I personally will not exactly miss it. Although, having said this, I do not look forward to the frigid cold either. However, Louis Vuitton has introduced a Spring/Summer 2012 collection that is definitely worth the anticipation! A range of wonderfully tailored suiting, over-sized holdall bags, classic structured leathers, all inspired by the underlying theme of travel.
There was one item though, that immediately caught my attention and had me infatuated. Not normally an every day size, but it would make for quite the statement.

Tribute to the Jige!

I find as of late, Hermès is becoming a label that is more well known by all generations. This is most likely due to the amount of publicity that is aimed towards one of the most coveted bags, the Hermès birkin. I do feel though that other styles, equally as beautiful in construction and aesthetics, fall short because of this. That is why I would like to post on the Hermès Jige, a versatile yet chic and minimalist clutch.
Available in a range of sizes, colours, fabrications (toile, leather), this particular style has been worn by ladies as an everyday or night clutch, but also by men in the larger sizes as a document holder, ipad case, etc. This style recently made it onto my wishlist, as school is starting soon, and I could possibly use a document holder! :)

Sixties Inspiration for Burberry

Of course if you know me, you would understand why my first official post would have to be regarding Burberry. I am a huge advocate of the brand, as it is on my list of top three favorite designers. The most recent Prorsum collection especially has me mesmerized.
Jean Shrimpton, a huge fashion icon from the sixties, was inspiration for the women's collection, whereas the men's was inspired by the ranges of weather - a coat for all seasons. This gave way to a huge range of fabulous, and unique pieces ranging in fabrics, textures, and cuts. Bold colours, exaggeration in cuts (arms emphasis, cocoon shapes, structure), and furs in this collection make for solid statement pieces.

Hello from Calgary!

Hi, my name is Darren. I just recently fell into the world of fashion. Being enrolled at the UofC while also working on the side, I discovered it to be one of my most treasured hobbies because of the work environments that I was surrounded by. Born and raised in Calgary, I find that fashion itself is quite scarce - which confuses me. How is it possible to live without something as fundamental as fashion itself? Fashion allows individuals to express themselves, their individuality, but also to explore areas which they probably would never dwell. It was because of this that I wanted to create this blog - to contribute my two cents to the world of fashion.
This is however, my first attempt at a blog in any way, shape or form- so please, bare with me.

I look forward to sharing my ideas!
